FAQ - Some of your questions answered...

Q. I AM NOT FLEXIBLE AT ALL! CAN I STILL LEARN MARTIAL ARTS?

A. Yes you can. Flexibility is very practical for high kicks but it is not an absolute must. Speed has a big influence as well. You will see that using proper technique and speed, you will reach pretty high, even if you are not the most flexible in your class!

Q. I AM NOT VERY FIT... WILL THAT BE A PROBLEM?

A. No, start training right away! Martial Arts will help you to become fit in a relatively short amount of time. Do not attempt to keep up with other students and only work at a pace that is suitable to your level of fitness, as the months progress you will become fitter.

Q. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO BECOME A TAE KWON DO BLACK BELT?

A. That totally depends on how much you train. It takes 3 and half years (training twice a week) to become a black belt, providing you pass every grading examination.

Q. WHEN DO I BUY A TAE KWON DO TRAINING SUIT (DO BOK)?

A. It is recommended that you purchase a suit when you are sure that Tae Kwon Do is for you. As soon as you're ready for a suit please speak to the instructor and you will have one for the next lesson.

Q. DO I HAVE TO WASH MY SUIT BELT AS WELL?

A. No, do not wash your belt as it will discolour and you will have to purchase a new one.

Q. DO I HAVE TO TELL SOMEONE IF I'M NOT FEELING VERY WELL OR HAVE AN INJURY?

A. Yes, please ensure that you inform the instructor that is teaching you and that you have taken the correct medication. If it is a long term illness then you must inform the instructor as soon as possible.

Q. IF I TRAIN IN MIXED MARTIAL ARTS IS IT FULL CONTACT?

A. Yes and no. Many students who want to train within Mixed Martial Arts come to train to get fit and to be associated to the sport. If you would like to take your training/experience to the next level, i.e. competitions then this can be arranged for you via the instructor.

Q. IF I WANT TO FIGHT IN MIXED MARTIAL ARTS IN THE COMPETITIONS AM I INSURED?

A. If you are entering any competitions within MMA then your insurance does not cover for this, you are only covered for training purposes.
